DEVA International (DEVA) has devoted over 20 years to cosmetics R&D. Its scientific system is built around the twin cores of the Natural Chinese Cosmetics Research Institute and the Shennongjia Natural Beauty Raw-Material Research Institute, bringing together 30+ industry experts led by Dr. Zhu Baofu, Dr. Pang Keliang, Dr. Qiu Xiaoyi, Dr. Yang Botao and Prof. Qu Haihong. It jointly builds industry–academia–research bases with the National Engineering Research Center for Novel Drug Development and Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, and—together with the Guangzhou Bay Area Biomedical Research Institute—has established a cosmetics postdoctoral research workstation, enabling full-chain empowerment from formula development and efficacy validation to mass-production implementation.

Shennongjia Natural Beauty Raw-Material Research Institute
Registered under the authority of the Science and Technology Bureau of Shennongjia Forest District, Hubei (Registration No.: 52429021MJJ1785157), the institute focuses on research into Shennongjia's distinctive rare cosmetics raw materials, ecological cultivation, extraction technology, R&D testing and applied-efficacy research, as well as industry–academia–research projects. It provides partner brands with ingredient-IP customisation, rare-plant cultivation/traceability, new-ingredient filing, IP customisation, patented technologies and authoritative endorsement by expert PhDs.
The team brings together intangible-cultural-heritage experts and a senior research group led by Dr. Zhu Baofu, Dr. Zhao Haishan, Dr. Mo Kaiju and Dr. Ding Jinlong. It has successfully developed 7 mass-producible, high-efficacy rare-species extracts and compounded raw materials, among which the Shennong chrysanthemum has successfully passed the national new-ingredient filing.

Representative Rare Raw Materials

Natural Chinese Cosmetics Research Institute
Registered under the authority of the Market Supervision Bureau of Huangpu District, Guangzhou (Registration No.: Huangpu Social Organisation Certificate No. 040065, Guangzhou), the institute inherits the essence of Eastern culture and aesthetics, combining traditional Chinese botanical extracts with cutting-edge skincare science to provide seasonally attuned care and gradual, step-by-step regimens for different life stages and skin types. It brings together 30+ industry experts led by Dr. Pang Keliang, Dr. Qiu Xiaoyi, Dr. Yang Botao and Prof. Qu Haihong, and has been granted 70+ national patents and mastered 5,000+ plant-based skincare core formulas. Its core laboratory is designed and built to CNAS standards, fully equipped with international high-end testing and analysis instruments, and it maintains ongoing domestic and international scientific collaboration and exchange.

Three Centres Under Its Umbrella
Beauty Application R&D Centre
Market-oriented and centred on brand-client value and consumer experience, dedicated to introducing and applying new technologies and raw materials, debugging and finalising new formulas and providing samples, as well as researching the stability and safety of basic formula systems.
Process Technology Research Centre
Responsible for fine-tuning lab formulas into mass-production formulas to ensure finished products closely match the approved samples; researches and introduces production technologies such as micro-encapsulation and smart delivery, and undertakes incoming packaging-material sampling inspection and pre-warehouse microorganism and heavy-metal testing of raw materials.
Cosmetics Evaluation Centre
Responsible for comprehensive evaluation of formula samples and finished products, comprising a chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) sensitisation-prevention lab, a heavy-metal testing room, a preservative-challenge lab, an active-ingredient analysis room, a product-function VISIA evaluation room and a container-compatibility evaluation room.
Eight Functional Laboratories
A specialised laboratory cluster built to CNAS standards, covering the complete evaluation loop from cellular-level mechanism research to finished-product efficacy validation.
Cell Laboratory
Equipped with a BDS400 inverted biological microscope, ELISA reader, CO₂ incubator, −86 °C medical deep freezer, −196 °C liquid-nitrogen tank and cell counter, building a fully automated cell-culture and testing system. Using primary cells (RAW264.7, HaCaT, B16F10, HSF, etc.) as models for efficacy validation and irritation assessment.
Product Efficacy Evaluation Room
Equipped with the US laboratory-grade VISIA facial skin imaging analyser and ANTSCISkin-SP skin tester, imaging down to the basal skin layer and covering twelve major skin metrics—spots, wrinkles, texture, pores, moisture, oil, collagen and more—to provide scientific data for efficacy claims.
Heavy-Metal Testing Room
Equipped with an atomic fluorescence spectrometer for detecting heavy-metal content in cosmetics, ensuring raw materials and products comply with national regulations, are free of harmful heavy metals, and guarantee hygienic quality and safe use.
Plant Extraction & Fermentation Room
Equipped with plant-extraction and fermentation equipment, ceramic-membrane separators and more. Using specific plants such as rose, blue lotus, Dendrobium officinale, lingzhi (Reishi) and Cordyceps as raw materials, high-concentration active substances are obtained through extraction or fermentation and molecular-weight fractionation, with controllable and traceable source and content.
Preservative-Challenge & Evaluation Laboratory
Validates the effectiveness of a product's preservative system through preservative-challenge testing, minimising preservative use while maximising quality stability throughout the shelf life.
Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane (CAM) Laboratory
Using the intact, clear and transparent vascular system of the chorioallantoic membrane at the mid-incubation stage of a chick embryo, the test substance is applied directly to the membrane to observe toxic effects and assess eye and skin irritation.
Container Testing Room
Equipped with a xenon-arc aging lamp, high-precision electronic balance, vacuum pump and more, it tests and risk-assesses containers that contact the product—covering process risk, compatibility, seal integrity, light resistance and migratory fluorescent brighteners—before production.
Active-Ingredient Analysis Room
Equipped with a one-hundred-thousandth electronic balance, UV spectrophotometer, and HPLC and GC instruments, it performs qualitative, quantitative and structural analysis of active substances, making effective components measurable and digitalised to ensure safe, high-efficacy products.
Backed by Industry-Leading Technologies
Multiple proprietary and licensed cutting-edge technologies safeguard the efficacy and experience of contract-manufactured skincare.
Global Strategic Raw-Material Partners
All raw materials are sourced from globally renowned companies, with a global strategic partnership alliance that safeguards formula quality and stability at the source.
